Diploma Project
Video Games as Tools for Graphic Design
PCAE is a publication part of the diploma project called The Video Game as Tools for Graphic Design. The master’s thesis explores the possibilities of using the medium of video games, or the virtual tools used within them, for creating visual communication. In this case, a video game represents a tool, a program that imposes certain restrictions on the user, which define a new aesthetic and functional level for the created graphic design.
The main components of the project include selecting suitable games, creating projects within these games, including interdisciplinary analysis that evaluates how skills from video games can be applied to traditional graphic design. The goal of the project is to design and explore various strategies for creating graphic design in the environment of computer games (using video games as a tool in an environment that was not originally intended for this) with the aim of creating a new strategy for appropriating game figures and methods of composing images. The project is an experiment, serving to define the possibilities of multidisciplinarity in visual communication.
